Let’s face it: hemorrhoids can be extremely uncomfortable, and often painful.  But there are ways to both sooth and, ultimately, get rid of them. If you or someone you know has been suffering from hemorrhoids, this article should help you to at least find some kind of relief, if not change your life to where you are not suffering from hemorrhoids, any more.

The biggest problem with regard to hemorrhoids, starts with how they are created, in the first place. They are caused by straining: (i) when trying to evacuate the bowels; (ii) by accidental straining, such as from the occupational side effects of bus driving, for example; or (iii) medical reasons including birthing a child. Once the strain has caused part of the anus to push out in the form of hemorrhoids, then it’s time to try and relieve the problem.

What many people don’t know about hemorrhoids is that part of the normal straining from the body comes from not properly evacuating. The way we sit on the toilet, for example, is not healthy for either our colons or for the anus, in general. If you can possibly sit, either squatting on top of your toilet seat, with feet atop the seat, and evacuate your bowels in this fashion, your hemorrhoids might completely disappear.

Our pre-historic ancestors more than likely evacuated in this fashion, and if you look at the design of historical toilets through the centuries, so did our closer ancestors.  The invention of the toilet was initially designed for more comfort, and it was looked at as something more “civilized”, especially in the 19th century. You can find modern day “evacuation platforms” that you can fix atop your current toilet, to help with easy evacuation. Of course, not everyone can squat, so there are other options to look at as well.

Not many people realize that the over-the-counter, topically applied hemorrhoid creams derive from shark liver oil. This is not the healthiest for humans to use, so consider instead vitamin E oil. This can be liberally applied to the area and if done religiously, the shrinking and relief that follows will be quite welcome.

Eating correctly can and will, in many cases, improve hemorrhoid issues. Eating a diet high in fiber and water and lower in meat will help you to evacuate more regularly hopefully at least twice a day. The daily use of Cayenne pepper can also greatly assist with this because it is naturally very spicy. It will move through your body faster, utilizing whatever you put it on for a vehicle. An example of this is using it on eggs or a few dashes in hot chocolate, too.

If your hemorrhoids are bleeding or in worse shape than just slightly showing after a really heavy straining session, you might consider surgery to remove them. This is done by “banding” the protruding (or inner) hemorrhoids and removing them by laser surgery. This can, however, be a very expensive procedure, so it is highly recommended that you try to change your diet and the way you evacuate first, unless you are feeling weak from blood loss in which case you should seek medical attention.

Hopefully you should now have some ideas of how to get rid of hemorrhoids – good luck!

Hemorrhoids are enlarged veins that can be inside or protruding out of the anus. These veins are usually swollen and can cause pain, itchiness and bleeding (usually during a bowel movement). Hemorrhoids can be caused from many things including constipation, heavy lifting, sitting for long periods of time, pregnancy and labor. When a hemorrhoid develops, usually pain during a bowel movement or constant discomfort around the rectum will show as symptoms. These symptoms should not go without treatment, as a small hemorrhoid can become a massive rectal bleed and need to be seen by a physician.

When you are looking for how to get rid of hemorrhoids, you can consult a doctor or look for over the counter medications. If there is severe pain and lots of rectal bleeding, then a doctor may need to be consulted immediately. Hemorrhoid treatment should be done 1-4 times daily for 7 – 14 days, according the directions on the medication box.

When you need to learn how to get rid of external hemorrhoids, make sure that you read the labels on all the medication labels to ensure that the vein tissue will shrink and the discomfort will subside. External hemorrhoids are the veins that are protruding out of the anus, and usually hurt the most during bowel movements and cleaning the area. Preparation H is an over the counter medication that is commonly used for to treat hemorrhoids. There are many different types of this medication, from a cooling gel to a greasy cream. Applications are best done after a bowel movement, up to 4 times a day. Make sure the areas you are applying medication to are clean and dry, and with a clean finger or applicator, gentle apply to the area. You make feel some discomfort at first, but allow time for the medication to calm the itching and pain. During the cleaning process, there are medicated wipes that can be found in general stores. Tux is a brand of medicated wipes that will help with the cleaning process and soothe the pain that can occur while wiping.

When you are looking for instructions on how to get rid of internal hemorrhoids make sure to look for medication that can be applied into the anus. When the veins are inside the anus and inflamed, then they have more of a chance of causing bleeding during a bowel movement. These types of hemorrhoids may also cause blood vessels to burst during any exertion, (in this case you will have blood in the toilet). Most internal medications will have a tube of medication and an applicator that will screw onto the tube. Make sure the tube is lubricated with the medication before inserting it into the affected area. If the pain is too extreme to handle when inserting the applicator, stop and consult with a doctor. Extreme pain may mean multiple hemorrhoids or a large hemorrhoid that needs a doctor’s care. Internal and external hemorrhoids can occur at the same time, which is the time when medication can be applied within the rectum and outside of the anus.

During the 7 day course of medication for hemorrhoids, adding fiber into the weekly diet may also help with preventing future issues. If hemorrhoids become a continuous issue, consult a doctor about other ways to treat and prevent these issues.
