Does Natural Deodorant for Men Actually Work?
Almost any natural deodorant for men will help control underarm odor. Men who are used to products like Speed Stick or Old Spice might find that they don’t appreciate the scent of a natural deodorant quite in the same way. But as far as reducing or eliminating armpit odors, natural products that you can purchase will typically work. Homemade deodorants work less so, so if you want to go natural you’re better off finding a product that doesn’t contain a variety of questionable chemicals.
There are a variety of deodorants for men that are formulated without things like ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, silica and aluminum salts. Commercially made deodorant along with things like makeup, moisturizer, toothpaste, shampoo and other hygiene products contain a long list of chemicals that are questionable or controversial. You can avoid all these by choosing organic or natural products.
Another option to consider when you’re looking for a new deodorant is to choose a deodorant for men that’s cruelty-free. Many of the natural products that feature organic ingredients and skip those questionable chemicals are also created without being tested on animals. If this is important to you, you almost certainly have to switch to a lesser well known brand of deodorant. Because if your deodorant in its finished form isn’t tested on animals, you can be sure that some of the ingredients that go into it are.
Don’t necessarily trust a product to be natural just because it claims that it is, however. Read the list of ingredients and look for things like methyl, ethyl, benzene, parabens and any type of aluminum, with the most common one being aluminum hydrochloride. These are the types of ingredients that are found in commercially available deodorant. Most natural companies will list these elements on their website or in their pamphlets just to show you that they don’t have them in their products.
