Millions of people around the world suffer from bad acne. I’m not just talking about a few pimples here and there. I’m talking about the kind of acne that makes you want to stay indoors. Bad acne can also spread down your neck and chest. Many also have back acne. This can be incredibly embarrassing. Even more so if you’re somewhere with your shirt off. However, there are some incredible cures for excessive acne.

If you have access to a dermatologist, that should be your first stop. He or she can help with bad body acne and help prevent scaring. There are several different prescription medications that work wonders. Adapalene and Azelaic Acid are two commonly prescribed creams or gels that help to cure acne.

These are applied on the affected areas several times each day (or as prescribed.) Depending on how severe your pimples are. These prescription medications can usually be used on your face, on back acne or on chest acne. Though, sometimes a specialized medication is used to treat body acne.

There are also acne medications that come in a pill form such as Isotretinoin (Accutane), Tetracycline, Minocycline, Doxycycline, or Bactrim/Septra. These can be easier to use since they are ingested. You don’t have to worry about covering each individual zit. They may also be a cheaper option if you have a lot of body acne since you are only taking one pill rather than using half of a tube of cream trying to cover all affected areas.

There are some drawbacks though to an acne medication in a pill form. Many have some serious side effects. Some can make you very nauseous. Other acne medications can make you very sensitive to light or to certain foods. Be sure to study up on any medication before you take it.

Products like these can really help prevent acne scars. Acne scars happen when a blemish becomes inflamed and rupture deep inside of the affected follicle. The pus then gets into the dermis and damages healthy skin. When the damage is serious enough, a scar can happen. Bad acne scars are obviously more common in individuals that suffer from bad acne.

If you already have acne scars, then there are products on the market that can help reduce the appearance of scars. You can also talk to your dermatologist about this. However, there are several over the counter medications to reduce scarring.

Scarring most often happens on the face as that’s where acne is usually the worst. But, it’s not uncommon for acne scars to happen on the neck, back or chest as well. By making every effort to get rid of you acne, you’ll have fewer chances of bad acne scars.

There are also natural acne remedies that can work wonders. Probably, my favorite natural acne remedy is an oatmeal mask. This is really similar to a lot of the expensive beauty products you can buy in the store or that you pay a lot of money to go to a spa and get. But, there’s no need to drop hundreds of dollars on expensive spa treatments or products. You can make something very similar at home.

To make an oatmeal mask, the only thing to need is regular oatmeal (none of that instant stuff) and some honey. The oatmeal I’m talking about usually comes in a cardboard can/tube. Make the oatmeal according to the directions. This usually involves boiling about a half cup of water then combining this with 3/4 cup of oats. Once this has been cooked, mix in a quarter cup of honey. Let this mixture cool for a bit. Now you have a cheap homemade oatmeal mask for acne.

The oatmeal serves to draw out the excess oil in your skin. It is also good for exfoliation. Getting rid of all these dead skin cells keeps your pores clearer and helps keep you from getting bad acne. The honey is only there to make the mask stick to your face. Nothing special going on there. Now, don’t let this sit too long or it will be very difficult to get off. Use your best judgement here. Wash off the mask once it starts to dry.

Another natural acne remedy is garlic. It seems strange, I know. But, garlic is a fantastic natural remedy for acne. To try this one out, take a few cloves of garlic and chop them very finely, or smash them up. Take the garlic juice and apply it to any pimples. Be careful with the mixture around your eyes, because garlic is very strong. Once the mixture has been on your face for about 5 minutes, wash your face with warm water. You don’t want to let this sit on your face overnight as it will most likely irritate your skin.

There are a whole host of remedies for bad acne. Zits, pimples and embarrassment are not things you have to live with. If you are patient and persistent you can find a bad acne cure that works for you. Keep a journal of the treatments that you try. Also, don’t try more than one remedy at a time. Do your best to write down any changes in your acne. If a treatment seems to work, try it for several days and see what happens. If it works, keep using it! If you don’t see any results, then try something else.

Nearly everyone suffers from some type of acne. Some are affected worse than others. But no one has incurable acne. Don’t be discouraged! Don’t give up! Always make an effort to intentionally treat your acne. A dermatologist can be a great tool if the acne medications or natural remedies you are trying don’t seem to be working. I know it took me several years to overcome my bad acne, but I did it and you can to! Good luck!
