When suffering from a head cold, relief from the annoying symptoms such as congestion and coughing will be heavily on your mind. It is unfortunately not possible to cure the condition, but it is possible to relieve head cold symptoms. Here is a number of natural ways to do it.

Drink Plenty of Water
When you suffer from the cold you will lose fluids due to increased sweating and the production of mucus. Replacing these fluids is crucial. Do not drink coffee and alcohol as it will only make the condition worse. Instead, drink plenty of water, and a bit of tea, juice, and warm soup. Finally, don’t smoke any cigarettes, this will greatly aggravate your dehydration symptoms.

The Benefits of Chicken Soup
Chicken soup is an old fashioned head cold remedy. Recent research shows, however, that the soup is beneficial on two fronts. It has an ability to strengthen the immune system and thus acts anti-inflammatory. It also helps the mucus travel through the nose easily, thus alleviating congestion. So eat plenty of that delicious warm chicken soup!

Warm Salt Water or Lemon Water for the Throat
To help you get rid of, or at least alleviate, your cough, try to drink warm lemon water with honey, or gargle, several times a day, warm salt water. This works better than you might think.

Don’t Forget to Rest
The importance of rest and relaxation should not be understated. Try to stay home from work and stay in your comfy bed. This will speed up the recovery process. An added benefit is the fact that it will reduce the risk of you passing your condition on to others.

Keep Your Room Warm and Appropriately Humid
Finally, you want to keep your room at a pleasantly warm temperature, and relatively humid. If the air is too dry, it might make symptoms, such as congestion and coughing, worse.

This was a list of natural ways to make your head cold as bearable as possible. If you feel the condition getting out of hand, do not hesitate to consult your doctor.
