I know what it is like to NEED a cure for a toothache. Toothaches are one of the most frustrating things ever. Most of the time a toothache is caused by poor dental hygiene, a cavity or some other dental anomaly. A toothache is an emergency sign for you to visit your dentist.  If you cannot visit your dentist immediately for whatever reason, listed below are some good temporary cures for a toothache that should help until you do get to your dentist.

There is another kind of toothache that occurs when your teeth experience a sudden fluctuation in its temperature, for example when you eat extremely cold ice cream, a nerve in your tooth can cause it to hurt.  Nevertheless, it is important to see your dentist at least once a year.  To help alleviate the pain, listed below are some cures for a toothache that can help.

  1. Go to your local grocery or medicine store and ask for clove buds. When you buy clove buds they come in a vial with a built in dropper. On cotton swab put a few droplets of clove buds. Apple the cotton swap gently on the area of your teeth that is painful.
  2. A solution of warm water and salt will work well. Gargle and/or swish the solution in your mouth for a good five to ten minutes. Repeat this process twice then you should feel the pain from your toothache subsiding.
  3. A tried and tested remedy is clove and clove oil. This is a great cure for a toothache. Rest the clove on the painful area of your tooth if clove is not readily available then clove oil will make a good substitute. If you are not comfortable doing this then you can combine crushed cloves and olive oil or water to create a paste. Apply the paste to the painful part of your tooth.
  4. Another good cure for a toothache is cucumber. Cucumber has a nice cooling effect and will help ease the pain. Follow up the cucumber with some garlic. Garlic is rich in analgesic and has many anti-infection characteristics. This should be able to cure you of the pain of your toothache and a tooth infection. Place against the affected area a bit of crushed garlic and a little bit of salt.

In conclusion, not all of the remedies posted in this article are for permanently curing toothaches although most of them will help with the pain.  There is no substitute to making regular visits to your dentist, a regular check up could save you a lot in terms of having to treat otherwise extensive damage caused by tooth decay.  Good dental and oral hygiene is very important because poor dental hygiene is one of the main causes of toothaches.
