Detox Diet: A Remedy for Health?
Most detox diets - or processes for removing toxins from the body – require you to eat or drink differently than you currently do in order to have a healthier body function. Often, diets that eliminate allergenic and foods with toxins, herbs, and detoxification liquids are used to increase elimination from the body, cleanse the colon, and enhance circulation. The goal is to protect and send nutrients to the liver, the main organ involved in detoxification, while also cleansing out all of the toxins throughout the body. There are certain foods that can help this process.

Vegetables that have been particularly known to help detox diets include: broccoli, cauliflower, artichokes, beets, garlic, onions and, in general, red and green vegetables. Lentils, unsalted nuts and seeds and grains also are good for detox diets. Although many books and experts may suggest omitting rice altogether, brown rice is a good alternative. Food should be cooked in olive oil, if any oil is required at all. Beverages should include water, of course, but may include herbal teas, lemon juice, and unsweetened vegetable and fruit juices.
Some of these dietary changes might seem drastic for some who are accustomed to more fast food-paced lifestyles. A detox diet, though, is necessary to get rid of the chemicals that enter our bodies through food, water, and air and deposit toxins into our in fat cells. They also force more frequent urination and bowel movements.
A detox diet can be a remedy for health. Many people have been eating poorly for so long, they do not realize how much it has affected their bodies.
